It is quite unfortunate that many have made God's plan of salvation somewhat difficult. The truth of the matter is, it's quite simple, especially if we stop and realize that Jesus Christ has already done the work. His life, death, burial, and resurrection are solely the key elements that are absolutely necessary for an individual to be saved. The salvation of an individual's soul or (conscious being) can be easily understood by viewing the words of the Apostle Paul to the "church" at Rome concerning unbelievers:
Romans 10:9-10, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
It is obvious to see that God's plan of salvation is a simple plan absent from any type of rituals, sacrifices, or difficult requirements. The Apostle mentions two very simplistic actions that need to take place to receive eternal salvation with the one true God:
- "Confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus"
- "Believe in thine heart that God hath raise him from the dead"
How clear can this be? We see no difficulty in obtaining salvation, especially in this era of modern day civilization when we are not presented with the challenge of being persecuted for making such a confession, which in that time could have resulted in being put to death.
The wonderful salvation that God offers results in receiving the best benefit that mankind could ever receive, that is eternal life with Jesus Christ our Savior. Further, this offer of salvation is not exclusive to any specific nations, groups, or ethnicities; it is for everyone—whoever will call on God to be saved [rescued]. This can be seen by hearing again from the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 10:12-13, For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek [Gentiles]: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. (13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How wonderful this is, anyone receiving God's salvation is saved [rescued] from the penalties of all transgressions, iniquities, and sin. Penalties that in otherwise would result in one's soul being subject to hell's fiery torments of the soul throughout eternity! For this cause, we simply say, the mercies and grace of God are to be marveled at; for we do something so simple, resulting in something so eternally precious—the gift of God's salvation, eternity with Jesus Christ our Lord!
The gift of salvation is truly the guarantee of blissful peace, tranquility and "joy unspeakable full of glory." If you have not received the wonderful gift of God's salvation, we would like to leave you with this simple acclamation that will, according to the word of God recorded in the Bible, lead you into the realms of this everlasting contentment of your soul. After you have asked God to forgive you of all your sins, sincerely repeat these words:
"I now confess that Jesus Christ is my Lord, and I sincerely believe in my heart that God has raised Him from the dead!"
My friend, if you have sincerely made this confession, you are saved! It's just that simple! Now that you are saved; baptism, communion, and other fruits of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit will surely follow. It's now crucial to begin fellowshipping with other believers and start learning from God's rich word. His word will be the key of your continued growth in the grace of God in the person of Jesus Christ. How can this be done? By finding a Bible believing church that Jesus Christ is the center of their worship, praise, adoration and study.
In Christ's service,
Elder Dirk & Sister Kathryn Evans
